Sandra is the devoted and proud parent of two (2) adult children, one, a 21-year-old son named Asher who is living with Autism, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Asher has been a KEEN Chicago athlete who has enjoyed its’ sports program for over ten years. Sandra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree in Public Services Administration from DePaul University.


Her previous work experience as a retired City of Chicago Manager includes knowledge in the areas of an administrative hearing court system, a real estate and probate legal office, social service agency and law enforcement. Since retirement, Sandra has aspired to become a disability advocate and received certification and intensive training from Illinois Partners in Policymaking, Marc Gold & Associates, Family Matters Volunteer Advocacy Project; Project Assist collaboration between Vanderbilt and University of Illinois and TranCen Building Meaningful lives program to promote legislative advocacy, community outreach, coordinating community services, information sharing, fostering employment and health & fitness opportunities for persons living with disabilities. Sandra’s 21 years of lived experience has also inspired her vision and passion which is harmonious to KEEN Chicago’s programming in the areas of health, fitness, diversity, and socialization.


In addition to becoming the new parent board member of KEEN Chicago, Sandra is on the public policy committee of the Arc of Illinois, Chicagoland Autism Connection (CAC) family support group, volunteer committee member of the Community Services and Support Act (CESSA) and eventually, an IL LEND program member which will prepare her for continuous service as a leader and improve the health and welfare of children and families with disabilities.
