Sandra is a devoted and proud parent of two adult children. One of her children, Asher, is a 22-year-old son living with Autism and an Intellectual & Developmental Disability. Asher has been an athlete with KEEN Chicago, participating in its sports program for over ten years, and he has recently graduated to the newly established KEEN Plus program for individuals over 22.

Sandra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Master of Science in Public Services Administration from DePaul University. 



She has a wealth of experience from her previous role as a manager with the City of Chicago, where she gained extensive knowledge in areas such as the administrative hearing court system, real estate and probate legal offices, social service agencies, and law enforcement. Following her retirement, Sandra aspired to become a disability advocate for parents. She has received certification and undergone intensive training through various programs, including Illinois Partners in Policymaking, the Illinois LEND Program, Marc Gold & Associates, the Family Matters Advocacy Project, and others focused on health, fitness, financial planning, and diversity.


In addition to her second year as a parent board member of KEEN Chicago, Sandra is actively involved in several committees and coalitions. These include the Arc of Illinois public policy committee, the Community Emergency Services and Support Act coalition, and Regional Advisory Committee #11 (CESSA). She is also a member of the Illinois Respite and Illinois Family Caregiver Coalition committees.


Sandra’s dedication to advocacy and community involvement makes her a valued member of the parent community. She is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families while working tirelessly as a leader to improve their circumstances.
